Tajikistan's security bodies seized 2,715 kg of narcotic substances from illicit circulation in the first six months of 2011, which is up 34.4 per cent compared to January-June 2010, a deputy director of the country's Drug Control Agency (DCA), Bunafsha Odinayeva, said today. Officers of the DCA uncovered 77 cases of drug trafficking during the period under review. "NATO has its own political tasks in Afghanistan. They do not have a mandate for fighting against production and circulation of drugs," a deputy head of operational headquarters of the DCA, Mahmadnaim Marizoyev, said. "All fears that inflow of narcotics will sharply increase after withdrawal of the NATO coalition forces from Afghanistan are groundless," he underlined.
